Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement
“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong”
Wilford Woodruff
Reflection: When you do the wrong thing you will gain nothing. When you do good things or what is right you get freedom. When you do what is wrong you always get bad consequences, you don’t get anything good out of doing what is wrong. The only way you can feel good when you do something is if you do what is right. When you do wrong you don’t feel good about and you only get negative consequences, though these might not appear in the same moment as when you do the action. Same goes, when you do what is right. When you do the right thing you will feel a positive feeling though you might not feel it at the exact moment.

"It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and (to make) unpopular that which is unsound (and not good)."
Joseph Smith
Reflection:
What he was trying to say was that our duty as human's is to make what is good popular. To influence others into doing what is good for us or what is the right thing to do. He was also trying to say that we should try to make the bad popular things unpopular. This way not many people will do what is wrong. If doing the right thing where to be popular, if many people choose to do what is right, then there would be a greater amount of people doing the right thing. For example if someone asks you to say the truth then you say the truth. This way others will see that you have said the truth and might influence them into saying the truth as well. In another scenario, lets say your friends decide to cheat on a test. This is choosing to do what is wrong. Since you want to make this "bad decision" making unpopular you will decide not to cheat on the test. This way your friends will see that you have decided not to cheat, and influence themselves into not cheating.

“What’s right isn't always popular. What’s popular isn't always right.”
Howard Cosell
I think that just like how it says, maybe not a lot of people to what is right. The things that others do, just because others do it does not mean it is right. For example if people (teens) start drinking alcoholic beverages, that does not mean it is right. A lot of teens might be doing this but it is not right.

High school graduation (Reflection)

High school graduation
Pleasure or pain
A graduation can either be a pleasure or pain. If one chooses to do what is right and graduates it will be a pleasure. If one decides to do what is wrong, and does not graduate then it will be a pain.

"My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure"
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
I think that this means that if one always does what is right and doesn't do anything wrong one will have a stronger strength. If one takes care of its own body and does nothing wrong one will never lose their strength. If one decides to do something bad/wrong one will lose strength because one is no longer pure.

"You will never regret doing what's right"

Anon

If one choose what is right, one will have no regrets. In the other hand if one chooses to do what is wrong one will have many regrets in life. If one always choose to do what is right one will be in peace with one's self, with no regrets because one did what was right.

·      “Light and darkness can’t occupy the same space at the same time. CTR is light-CTW is darkness”
Call/Haymore
·      I think that this means that one cannot choose to do the right thing and the wrong thing at the same time. One can only decide to choose either one.
